About Steeles
Steeles occupies the far-northeast corner of Scarborough along Steeles Avenue around Kennedy and Midland, hard against the Markham boundary. It is one of the most visibly Chinese communities in the Greater Toronto Area, anchored by Pacific Mall and the surrounding Market Village strip — among the largest Chinese shopping complexes in North America — with bustling food courts, grocers and specialty shops drawing visitors citywide.
There is no rapid transit inside the hood; TTC and York Region buses run along Steeles, Kennedy and Midland, feeding Line 2 and Scarborough Centre, while Highway 404 sits just west for a quick drive south. The community is built around family life, with schools, places of worship and the malls forming the social centre, and parkland tucked along the local creeks and side streets.
