Junction Area Condos

Breweries, antique row and lofts in a reborn industrial west end.

About Junction Area

The Junction takes its name from the railway crossing where four rail lines met, and that industrial heritage still shapes it — wide streets, brick warehouses and a main strip on Dundas West around Keele that was famously 'dry,' barred from selling alcohol until 1998. Once the bars arrived, the neighbourhood transformed: breweries, an antique-and-vintage row, independent restaurants and design shops moved into the old storefronts, turning a gritty working district into one of the west end's most distinctive destinations.

It's farther out and quieter than the downtown strips, with a stronger residential and family character. Dundas West and Keele are the commercial spine, served by the 40 Junction and 168 buses feeding into Dundas West and Keele stations on Line 2, with the 506 College/Carlton and UP Express at Bloor nearby for downtown and airport runs. The crowd is creatives, young families and longtime residents drawn by larger lots, the strip's independent character and the still-relative affordability for the amount of space.

Condo stock is modest and low-rise by downtown standards: loft conversions in former factories, plus boutique mid-rise infill along Dundas. Most of the housing remains detached and semi houses, so condos are a smaller, characterful slice of the market. Pricing is below the core, and buyers tend to be people trading downtown energy for west-end space, neighbourhood feel and the Junction's particular charm.
