About Corktown
Corktown is one of Toronto's oldest neighbourhoods — settled by Irish immigrants from County Cork in the 1800s — and one of its most quietly transformed. Tucked between the Distillery District, the Don River and King Street East, its narrow streets of heritage cottages and converted industrial buildings now sit beside the West Don Lands, a from-scratch master-planned community built on the former Pan Am Games athletes' village. The result is a rare downtown blend: 19th-century character on one block, brand-new sustainable mid-rises on the next.
The neighbourhood's anchor is Corktown Common, an 18-acre flood-protection landscape that has become one of the best parks in the core — wetlands, a splash pad, skyline views and event lawns. King and Queen Street East streetcars connect to downtown, and the future Ontario Line's Corktown station will put rapid transit right in the heart of the neighbourhood, a significant value catalyst for nearby condos. The Distillery District, St. Lawrence Market and the Canary District's shops are all within a short walk.
Corktown condos appeal to buyers who want downtown access with heritage texture and serious green space — a quieter, more residential feel than the towers of CityPlace or the Entertainment District. Stock ranges from boutique heritage conversions to the newer Canary District builds, and the coming Ontario Line underpins long-term demand. Pricing sits in the downtown-east mid-to-upper range.
