Toronto Neighbourhood Guide

Casa Loma Condos

Toronto's castle on the hill — Rathnelly's quiet streets above the Annex.

About Casa Loma

Casa Loma is named for the Gothic Revival castle that crowns the hill above midtown — Sir Henry Pellatt's 1914 folly, now one of Toronto's most-visited landmarks. The neighbourhood that shares its name is one of the city's most exclusive: a quiet, affluent enclave of grand homes, mature trees and the tight-knit Rathnelly "republic" tucked below the escarpment. It sits on the dividing line between the Annex's intellectual energy and Forest Hill's wealth, with the Spadina-Davenport stairs and the Baldwin Steps linking the upper and lower neighbourhoods.

Despite the prestige address, the area is well connected: Dupont and St. Clair West stations on Line 1 are within reach, the 127 Davenport route fills in the gaps, and downtown is a short ride south. Green space is exceptional for a central location — the Nordheimer Ravine, the grounds of Casa Loma and Spadina House, and the Baldwin Steps lookout over the city. The Annex strip and Forest Hill Village provide upscale shopping and dining nearby.

Condo stock is deliberately limited — this is largely a low-rise, heritage-protected area, so units are boutique and scarce, drawing affluent downsizers and professionals who want prestige, quiet and ravine access close to the core. Pricing runs premium, reflecting the address and the rarity of the stock. For buyers who want a refined, residential midtown enclave with a castle for a neighbour, few areas compete.
