The Annex Condos

Grand Victorian streets, U of T and Bloor's bookstores and cafés.

About The Annex

The Annex is one of Toronto's grand old neighbourhoods — a leafy grid of stately Victorian and Edwardian mansions, many converted to apartments and academic uses, wrapped around the northern edge of the University of Toronto. For over a century it has been the city's intellectual and literary heart: home to writers, professors and students, anchored by the bookshops, cafés and repertory cinema of the Bloor Street "Annex strip," and steps from the ROM, the Bata Shoe Museum and the U of T campus.

Connectivity is excellent. Spadina, Bathurst, Dupont and St. George stations ring the neighbourhood on Lines 1 and 2, making it one of the best-served areas in the city for transit, and the core is a short ride or a pleasant walk south. The green of the U of T campus, the Spadina-Davenport stairs up to Casa Loma, and the ravine system to the north give the dense streets room to breathe. Bloor Street's restaurants and Honest Ed's redevelopment (Mirvish Village) keep the strip evolving.

Condo stock in the Annex is a mix of converted-mansion units, mid-century apartment buildings and a careful layer of newer boutique and mid-rise development — heritage character limits the towers. Buyers are professionals, academics, downsizers and investors targeting the deep U of T rental base. Pricing runs upper-middle to premium depending on the building and proximity to Bloor; you're buying into one of the most storied addresses in Toronto.
